Asymmetric catalysis—using catalysts that favor the formation of one enantiomer—has become a dominant method in modern synthesis. Enzymatic and microbial processes also offer environmentally friendly routes, aligning with the growing demand for sustainable chemical manufacturing.

The global market for chiral chemicals is expanding steadily, driven by increasing pharmaceutical R&D, regulatory emphasis on enantiomeric purity, and advancements in green chemistry. Emerging trends include continuous-flow synthesis and machine learning-assisted design of chiral catalysts, which promise to enhance production efficiency and selectivity.
